The VCU Department of Sculpture + Extended Media is committed to creating a supportive learning environment that embraces bold ideas and rewards ambitious undertakings. In addition, we believe that one of the best ways to prepare an artist for success in their professional practice is to leave them in the best possible financial situation after they earn their degree.

To this end, an array of support strategies, including Financial Aid and Federal Work Study, Research Grants, and Departmental Scholarships are available to our students.

Jose Puig Night

Each year the VCU Sculpture Department celebrates the accomplishments of its community by hosting a party in honor of the late beloved faculty member, Jose Puig. At a festive and funky off-campus location we gather together, present a marathon slide show of every student’s work, note the recent activity of our family of alumni, and ceremoniously present the many awards and scholarships that the department has to offer.

In addition to monetary awards, we honor our students’ hard work, character, and community spirit with a wide variety of gift awards. It is a night of remembering the history or our department, the people who made and continue to make it an important place, the amazing work that happened in the studios and shops, and all of the learning that we collectively achieved in the past year.
